The idea

Jesus starts this verse with "therefore" because He has just said that God knows what you need. Worry doesn't change tomorrow. It drags tomorrow into today and distracts you from what God has for you right now. His mercies are new each morning, not handed out in bulk, so you can't spend tomorrow's grace on today's worry. Israel learned this with manna in the wilderness: gather only enough for today. Planning isn't the problem, and Proverbs commends it. Worry is trying to control something you don't own.

Take it with you

  • Make the plan, then hand it over.
  • When a thought turns into "what if," call it worry.
  • Memorize a verse you can say out loud when it starts.

Reflect

What are you carrying today that really belongs to next week?
