Matthew 6:34 on worry: why fretting about tomorrow pulls trouble into today, manna in the wilderness, and the difference between planning and worrying.

Jesus starts this verse with "therefore" because He has just said that God knows what you need. Worry doesn't change tomorrow. It drags tomorrow into today and distracts you from what God has for you right now. His mercies are new each morning, not handed out in bulk, so you can't spend tomorrow's grace on today's worry. Israel learned this with manna in the wilderness: gather only enough for today. Planning isn't the problem, and Proverbs commends it. Worry is trying to control something you don't own.
What are you carrying today that really belongs to next week?
