The idea

After Stephen's death the church scattered. In Antioch, a city of mixed cultures and languages, a great awakening began. Barnabas didn't take it on alone. He went to Tarsus to find Paul, and together they taught the church for a full year. This is also where believers were first called Christians, a name that points to Christ as the one thing people with nothing else in common shared. The lesson is simple: get a friend. Everyone needs someone more mature to lean on, and someone less mature to pour into.

Take it with you

  • Pray for the right person, then ask them directly.
  • Look for life experience and a walk you respect, not just years in church.
  • Be that person for someone else.

Reflect

Who is the more mature believer you can call, and who are you investing in?
