The idea

Paul says he became weak to win the weak, and all things to all people, so that by all possible means he might save some. People at different stages of faith need different conversations, and words that sound normal in church can sound strange to someone outside it. Being right doesn't always mean something needs to be said, and pushing too hard can drive a person away. Paul isn't speaking from above. He's walking the same street. A practical tool: ask a question instead of making a statement, and pray before the conversation starts.

Take it with you

  • Skip church jargon around people who are still outside.
  • Ask a question instead of making a point.
  • Aim to reach some. Don't pressure everyone.

Reflect

Where have you said something true that landed as a wall instead of a door?
