The idea

"We live by faith, not by sight." Paul wrote that without ever walking with Jesus during His earthly ministry, and he still endured prison, beatings, and shipwreck for Him. Living by faith means trusting that God is in control and has your good in mind. It doesn't mean doing nothing, because faith without works is dead. Your first week at the gym shows no results. A new diet doesn't drop fifteen pounds in a day. You trust the process and keep showing up. The harder half is leaving a problem with God once you've handed it over, instead of taking it back thirty seconds later.

Take it with you

  • Pair faith with action: pray, then do the work in front of you.
  • Don't trust what you can see over who God is.
  • After you hand something over, leave it there.

Reflect

What do you keep giving to God in prayer and then taking back an hour later?
